Are you tired of that old, ugly, peeling popcorn ceiling texture?
Want a way to bring the look of your home, condo or townhome up to date with a new and contemporary look? If you have popcorn ceilings, then it's time for them to go. Either a flat, light orange peel or knock-down texture finish is so much more clean and inviting than those old popcorn finish ceilings.

Originally, popcorn texture ceilings had two purposes. Firstly, it made the drywall finisher's job a lot easier because they didn't have to do as much work to finish the sheetrock. Secondly, popcorn was used to provide a little bit of acoustic sound deadening. These two reasons are true. However, you want what you want. It's really not that much more work for the finisher to smooth out that 3rd layer of mud and the amount of acoustic deadening you get from popcorn texture is really not that much. Your furniture and rugs will provide plenty enough sound deadening.

Things to know before you begin.
It takes time to property complete a popcorn removal and re-texturing job. Each step in the process requires the use of water; sheet rock mud, primer, texture spray and paint which all contain water. Each step requires a specific amount of dry-time before the next step can begin. If you have concrete ceilings like in many high-rise and condominium buildings, the dry time is even longer due to the concrete not absorbing the extra moisture.
Rooms with concrete ceilings can take up to 3 days longer to complete. So, be prepared for that.
Usually, the property cannot be occupied while the work is being done. Everything is masked off and covered. All your furnishings will have to be photographed for replacement, gathered and covered. The entire interior will be covered in plastic until the job is complete. It can be a big mess if people are coming and going while the work is under way.

Deciding on which texture you want.
After the popcorn has been removed and the surfaces skimmed out it is up to you what type of re-texturing you want applied. There are three contemporary texture styles that are popular:
- Slick or Flat
- Orange Peel
- Knockdown or Spanish Lace
There is a cost for each of these re-texture styles. Believe it or not, the slick or flat actually will cost you more because it's a lot more work to get the surfaces all smoothed out to perfection.
Regardless of the texture you want for your ceilings, we have mastered them and can make it a reality for you.
